I’ve never been a fan of clowns. Creepy, in my view. Plain creepy. I wouldn’t say I’m afraid of them (a fear of clowns is called coulrophobia, by the way), but I wouldn’t want to meet one in a dark alley. Or a brightly lit one, come to think of it. And on a recent visit to the Wairarapa A&P Show in Claireville, I was presented with plenty of evidence to harden my feelings against these cheeky circus types… May I present Exhibit One.

And here’s some more… there’s fascination in revulsion…
If you would like your fear of clowns explained, then the Speaker’s Corner series at the Featherston Community Centre is hosting John McDowall, Victoria University’s Associate Professor School of Psychology, on 20th November 2013 at 7.30pm. John is an excellent, entertaining and incredibly knowledgeable speaker, so if you live in the Wairarapa and have a gold coin to spare, come on down to the Community Centre.
Anyway. It wasn’t all creepy clowns at the A&P show. There was some pretty cool, completely over-priced, fun fair rides too, and a brass band!
