Tune into 92.7FM this Thursday, 19th September, and catch up with some great local content from the South Wai! We’ve got a great new monthly show aimed at mums with young children brought to you by Tiff North, Plunket’s Community Support Liaison Officer for the Wairarapa. The show’s title, Cold Tea and Laundry Piles, reflects the reality of many a busy mum’s life, and the show itself aims to bring you parenting tips and advice, some great music for mums and bubs, and news on what Plunket events and services are available in your area, all bought to you with Tiff’s infectious sense of fun and humour! Tune in for the inaugural show on Thursday 19th and 26th September at 9.30am, 92.7FM or click ‘listen live’ at Arrow FM.
Right after Cold Tea and Laundry Piles at 10.30am catch up with the SWALA (South Wairarapa Adult Learning Association) team for an hour of news and views on adult learning opportunities in the Wairarapa. The SWALA Hour is bought to you by the lovely Des and Deirdre, who have considerable experience and expertise in providing adult learning services, advice and support in our region, and mix up news on what’s on at SWALA with lively discussion on topical adult education issues and some great music, usually jazz (Des’s favourite!)
At midday it’s the Featherston Community Board Election Special of Southern Exposure! Tune in to 92.7FM at 12pm to hear five of the seven candidates for one of South Wai’s Community Boards in a lively panel discussion. My sincere thanks to Lee Carter, Perry Cameron, Darkie (Helen) Barrow, Garry Thomas and Peter Jackson for a great hour of chat and music. Katie Beattie and Rupert Watson couldn’t make the panel, but you can hear an earlier interview with Katie here, and you can check out all the candidates election issues by clicking on their names above. I hope you tune in to learn more about the candidates, and what they hope to achieve if they are successfully elected on 12th October. For more information on registering to vote and the voting process in general, check out www.vote.co.nz.
If you are a German speaker, then at 1.30pm it’s Veronika Beall’s great German language show, Spaetzle Radio. The show’s being going strong for a while now, and caters to the region’s considerable German language community.
And then, at 8pm, it’s my arts show, ReCooper8! But more on that later!
I am now (thanks to funding from the DIA Lottery’s Community Grant) Arrow’s coordinator for the southern part of the Wairarapa region, working to raise the profile of community access radio and the services we can offer.
