Yarns in Barns 2012

A big event coming up in the Wairarapa area is the Yarns in Barns Festival of Reading, and the programme looks great this year.  It’s running from 24th May through to 3rd June, and I focused on a couple of events that particularly interested me on ReCooper8 this month.

I’m a bit of a foodie, so Thursday 31st May is of interest – Fleur Sullivan of Fleur’s Place down in the South Island and Al Brown will be talking with David Kernohan from 7pm onwards at Greytown Town Centre.  Tickets $10.  I had my first taste of muttonbird at Fleur’s Place when we travelled around NZ back in 2007.  I could only afford half a bird, but it was delicious!  Half a bird and no pudding!

If you’ve got kids, then there’s a story telling hour from 12.30pm at Martinborough Library, Sat 26th May, with local tellers Gaye Sutton and Alice Robertson.  Tickets $5 for grown up, kids a steal at $2.

You can find more info on Yarns in Barns from the Hedley’s bookstore website, hedleys.co.nz and also the Destination Wairarapa website.
