Would appreciate your feedback on a new podcast idea

Hello! Coops here. I’m developing a new podcast and would like your feedback on this pilot edition.

The podcast is called One Big Story.

I want to take you inside the making of New Zealand’s biggest journalism.

In each episode I sit down with a reporter behind a major story to unpack how it was found, built, and told — from first lead to final impact.

It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the craft, challenges, and real-world consequences of the stories that shape our news.

This pilot edition is with The Post’s Katie Ham. She’s a brilliant crime reporter and her story, Meth in the Suburbs (paywalled), is what gave me the idea for this podcast.

Let me know what you think. Too long? Too short? Do you like the music choice? (I’m not sure myself!) Have you read a long-form story lately that you really enjoyed and would like to know more about? You can email your feedback to lucy.cooper@stuff.co.nz or leave a note here.

A huge thank you to Katie Ham for being willing to be my guinea pig and for a great conversation; to Monique Ford, videojournalist at The Post for taking fantastic video – I will use it I promise! And to my editor Piers Fuller and his boss, Victoria Guild, for supporting the development of this idea.
