Paeakau The Opera, written and performed by Holly and Zac Winterwood – a must-see event this Kokomai Creative Festival

Here at last is the third and final morsel of September’s bumper edition of ReCooper8!

In this section, Holly and Zac Winterwood talk about their stunning new work, Paeakau The Opera, which has been especially commissioned for this year’s Kokomai Creative Festival and will debut on Saturday 15 October at Aratoi Museum.  If you live in the region and are going to be around on 15 October, then I urge you to buy a ticket and be part of what will be an incredibly moving and uplifting night.

Following Holly and Zac’s piece, Katie and I have to accept that Declan O’Rourke doesn’t love us, and we turn our affections to Andrew Laking instead!  Andrew is one of the brains behind production company, Pirate and Queen, that will be bringing artists Declan O’Rourke and Vishtèn to Kokomai in October.

A mighty big thank you to Holly and Zac for providing the audio and music for the Paeakau featurette, and to Andrew for being available at the very last minute!  Mega shout out to our sponsor, The Greytown Hotel aka The Top Pub!  Ursula and Tony are hosts with the mosts, so get yourself down there for a pint and your dinner asap!
