On ReCooper8 this month, Lucy knits one, purls one with local encaustic artist, Nicki Stewart, whose exhibition, Remember to Remember, opens at the Aratoi on 8th August. As Nicki describes in her publicity for the exhibition, Remember to Remember is “a co-memoration. A community knitting project knitting comforts for soldiers. Each stitch carrying a message, holding a pattern, unravelling a story of someone long gone.” Listen to Nicki speak about how the project was born, and how it has fulfilled it’s promise of being a means to bring people together and recover valuable stories and history in the region.
Anne Taylor also joins the show this month, bringing news of other fabulous exhibitions and shows at Aratoi, including The Imaginative Times of Graham Percy and Justine Fletcher’s intriguing installation, 607.
Plus music from City Oh Sigh, French for Rabbits, Summer Thieves and The Phoenix Foundation.
Tune in at the new time of Sunday 20th July at 8pm, or download the podcast. Repeats the following Thursday at 8pm.
(Oh, and by the way, an encaustic artist is one that works with hot wax!)
