Festive ‘Wairarapa Word’ Happenings over the weekend!

SATURDAY 14 Dec – Wairarapa Word has hired a stall to offer a range of books by Wairarapa-based writers.  A good selection of children’s books, poetry, cookbooks, local history, and more.  Where?  Cobblestones Museum Market, Greytown, 10-1, free entry

 
12_Nights_before_Xmas_A4
SUNDAY 15 Dec – Wairarapa Word has put together a variety show, the 12 Nights of Christmas, with stories, poems, and songs.  This is just one of the 12 nights of performances in the new square.  

Where? Masterton Town Square, 6:30-8:30pm, Free entry

The Performers (in order of performance)

Madeleine Slavick – photographer, author of Fifty Stories Fifty Images (2012), Something Beautiful Might Happen (2010), delicate access (2004), and Round – Poems and Photographs of Asia (1997)

John Ansell – author of I Think the Clouds are Cotton Wool (2003) and has CD: John Ansell’s Catalogue of Rhymes

Janette Gerritsen – poet

Simon Fleck – poet, with a CD of his poems set to music, Black Gold (2013)

Jodie Dalgleish – poet,  current acting director of New Zealand Pacific Studio

Christine Hunt-Daniell – author of Just an Orange for Christmas (2013)I’m Ninety Five – Any Objection? (1985) Speaking a Silence (1981), and Something in the Hills (1979)

Murray Parker – musician (singer, guitarist) – will perform songs

Mary Buckner – poet and storyteller

Jared Gulian – author of Moon Over Martinborough (2013)

Clare McLennan-Kissel – poet, active with Glistening Waters

Hartley Towsey – musician, will play clarinet/sax
