A reminder that it’s wairarapa word this Sunday 3 November 3pm at Almo’s Books, 42 High St, Carterton and the guest writer this month is Christine Hunt Daniell.
Christine has authored four books, with Just an orange for Christmas – Stories from the Wairarapa her most recent title. Published earlier this year, the book took her six years to create – interviewing elders across the region and writing up their stories. Her previous books also draw on the lives of ordinary people: Something in the Hills (set in Otago, published 1979),Speaking a Silence (set in Golden Bay/Nelson, 1981), and I’m Ninety Five – Any Objection? (set throughout the South Island, 1985).
Originally from the Nelson Region, Christine Hunt Daniell also writes poetry and children’s literature, and will be reading several genres on November 3rd – there will be something for everyone. You can also hear my interview with Christine recorded for Arrow FM’s show, Southern Exposure, here.
Come along for a free afternoon on the first Sunday at 3pm at Almo’s Books, 42 High Street, Carterton.
There is also open session for people to share their own short pieces of writing.
